LEGO Restaurants of the World: Complete Set Guide

LEGO Restaurants of the World is a four-set gift-with-purchase (GWP) collection LEGO ran through 2026. Each set is a small, minifigure-scale street restaurant from a different country — a sushi counter from Japan (40906), a taqueria from Mexico (40907), a Greek taverna (40908) and an Italian pizzeria (40909). Every model has an oversized version of its signature food on the roof and an exclusive chef minifigure with a new torso print. None of them was sold as a normal retail set: you received one free when an order on LEGO.com or in a LEGO Store passed the spending threshold during that set's promotion window. This guide lists all four sets, explains the food details inside each model, walks through how the GWP offers worked and when each one ran, summarizes what published reviews said, and covers how to get the sets now that the promotions are over.

What Is LEGO Restaurants of the World?

Restaurants of the World is LEGO's 2026 collectible gift-with-purchase series. Instead of selling the sets on a shelf, LEGO handed one out free with qualifying orders, releasing a new restaurant roughly once a quarter so collectors had a reason to come back through the year.

Each model is a compact street-food style restaurant built to represent one country's food culture: Japanese sushi, Mexican tacos, a Greek taverna and an Italian pizzeria. They share the same footprint of roughly 10 × 12 studs, a sticker sign and menu, and a big brick-built version of the restaurant's signature food mounted on the roof. In every set that rooftop food can be taken off if you want a more realistic building.

LEGO has run four-part "of the World" GWP collections in earlier years, but those were microscale. Reviewers singled out this series because it is minifigure scale for the first time, so each restaurant drops straight into a LEGO City street and comes with its own exclusive minifigure. All four sets are rated 12+.

LEGO Restaurants of the World GWP Explained

GWP stands for gift with purchase. LEGO adds a small, usually exclusive set to your order for free once the order total reaches a set amount during a limited promotion window. You can't add a GWP to an order on its own, and LEGO's terms say it cannot be bought, exchanged or swapped for cash.

For Restaurants of the World the threshold was the same for each release in the main markets: US$180, £160 or €180 in a single order. Canada was CA$235, and Australia and New Zealand were around AU$295 and NZ$320 for most of the series. LEGO's terms for the Japan, Greece and Italy offers required a free LEGO Insiders account, limited the gift to one per household, and said it could not be added to previous purchases. If you returned the qualifying items, the gift had to be returned too.

Rules around what counted toward the threshold were not identical every time. Pre-orders, Pick a Brick orders and some exclusive programs were treated differently by region and by offer, so the official LEGO promotion terms page for your country was always the final word.

Promotion windows (2026)

  • •Japan 40906: February 27 – March 8, 2026
  • •Mexico 40907: from April 10, 2026 (also reused as a replacement gift in October, see below)
  • •Greece 40908: August 11 – 20, 2026
  • •Italy 40909: October 13 – 19, 2026

Can you still get them from LEGO?

  • •No set in the series is sold as a standalone retail product
  • •Italy sold out on LEGO.com around October 16, 2026, and LEGO swapped in Mexico (40907) as the gift for the rest of that week
  • •LEGO Stores may have held stock longer than the online shop, so checking with a local store was worth it during the promo
  • •After the final window closes on October 19, 2026, collectors need the secondary market

LEGO.com product pages show an approximate value for some of these sets (for example US$19.99 for Japan and Greece). That is the gift's listed value, not a price you could pay to buy it separately.

LEGO Restaurants of the World Reviews

BrickFinder has not built these sets ourselves. The summaries below are based on published reviews from Brickset, New Elementary, Jay's Brick Blog and The Brick Fan, so you know where each point comes from.

Japan (40906): Brickset called it "a strong start" to the series and praised the minifigure scale, the exclusive chef and the detailed interior. New Elementary highlighted the exclusive torso. Stonewars noted that nearly all the decoration — the menu and the banner under the roof — comes as stickers rather than printed parts.

Mexico (40907): Brickset rated it on a par with Japan and a must-have GWP. New Elementary described it as bursting with color and detail and singled out clever two-piece chairs and the trompo kitchen, but found the rooftop taco a little oversized. The Brick Fan liked the authentic taqueria feel but felt the US$180 threshold was too high for a gift.

Greece (40908): coverage focused on the rooftop fish, the new owner torso and small accessories like the guitar, coffee cup and kitten.

Italy (40909): Brickset's quick look described the restaurant series as the best set of GWPs LEGO has made in recent years, and early Brickset member ratings for Italy were the highest of the four.

The common criticisms across the series were the same: the high spending threshold, the reliance on stickers, and the fact that the only official way to get the sets was to spend that amount on other LEGO.

Which LEGO Restaurants of the World Set Is Best?

There's no single best set — the four are close in size, price threshold and quality, and reviewers liked all of them. Choosing comes down to what you want from it.

Pick Mexico (40907) if you want the most color and kitchen detail; it has the highest piece count and the trompo, tortillas and guacamole make it the busiest food scene. Pick Japan (40906) for the cleanest, most realistic street stall, especially once the rooftop nigiri is removed. Pick Greece (40908) if you like small storytelling props — the guitar, coffee cup and kitten — and the smallest build. Pick Italy (40909) if you want the pizzeria with an oven and fountain, and the set that early Brickset ratings placed highest.

If you're buying on the secondary market, compare current sold listings rather than asking prices. The final, shortest-lived set (Italy) and the first one (Japan) tend to draw the most collector interest in a GWP series, but prices move and we don't list fixed values here.

Quick comparison

  • •Most pieces: Mexico (326)
  • •Fewest pieces: Greece (254)
  • •Most kitchen detail: Mexico (trompo, tortillas, guacamole)
  • •Most realistic without the roof sign: Japan
  • •Best accessories for storytelling: Greece (guitar, coffee cup, kitten)
  • •Highest early Brickset rating: Italy (small sample)

LEGO Restaurants of the World 4 — What Does It Mean?

Searches for "Restaurants of the World 4" usually mean one of two things: how many sets are in the series, or which set was the fourth one.

The answer to both: the collection has four sets, and the fourth and final one is 40909 Restaurants of the World: Italy, released as a GWP on October 13, 2026. The full run is Japan 40906, Mexico 40907, Greece 40908 and Italy 40909.

LEGO Restaurants of the World Next — Will There Be Another Set?

As of October 19, 2026, LEGO has not announced a fifth Restaurants of the World set. Brickset described Italy as "the last of the four" when it was revealed, and the series was planned as a four-set collection from the start, one per quarter.

LEGO has a habit of running a new four-part GWP collection each year, so a different themed series in 2027 is likely — but there is no official confirmation that it will be more restaurants or which countries it would cover. We'll update this page when LEGO announces the next collection rather than guessing at rumored countries.

What to watch for

  • •LEGO.com promotions and offers page around the start of each quarter
  • •LEGO's official promotion terms page, which lists upcoming GWP set numbers and dates
  • •Reveal coverage from established LEGO news sites such as Brickset

LEGO Restaurants of the World 2026 — Complete Collection

If you want the full set of four, here they are side by side. Because none were sold separately, collectors who missed a window now buy from other fans.

The complete 2026 collection

  • •Japan — 40906 — 289 pieces — sushi chef
  • •Mexico — 40907 — 326 pieces — taco vendor
  • •Greece — 40908 — 254 pieces — taverna owner
  • •Italy — 40909 — 317 pieces — pizza chef

Buying one second-hand

  • •Check BrickLink and eBay sold listings for the real recent price, not just asking prices
  • •For sealed sets, ask for photos of the box seals
  • •For used sets, confirm the exclusive minifigure and sticker sheet are included — those are the hardest parts to replace
  • •Use the set number (40906–40909) when searching so you don't get the wrong country

Building a Restaurant Yourself From Loose Parts

If you missed a promotion, you can often rebuild one of these restaurants from parts instead of paying a collector's price. The instructions are on LEGO's building-instructions site and in the LEGO Builder app under each set number.

New Elementary noted that the Mexico set uses no new molds or recolored pieces, and that 150 of its 154 unique part designs were available on LEGO Pick a Brick when it reviewed the set. The pieces that are genuinely hard to get are the exclusive printed minifigure torso and the stickers. The other restaurants are built in a similar way with common parts.

If you have a pile of loose LEGO and want to know whether you already own the pieces, BrickFinder's photo identifier and part lookup can help you put a name and Design ID to each element. The replacement parts finder can then help you build a list for Pick a Brick or BrickLink.

Identifying a part from a photo works best with one piece on a plain background, in good light, showing the studs or underside.
